Who Can Participate

  • 2nd-10th grade boys and girls

Player Commitment

There is no commitment required to attend evaluations.

If a player receives and accepts a team offer, the commitment will include:

  • 6-month term (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • $140 monthly dues*

*Team dues may vary based on team-specific schedules, tournament participation, and offerings. Complete team details will be provided with your player’s offer following evaluations.

School Sports Accomodations

We believe club basketball should complement—not compete with—school athletics. For middle-school ages and up, teams will operate under these guidelines:

  • Practice schedules are designed to accommodate school sports whenever possible.
  • During the school basketball season, TYA training emphasizes supplemental skill development.
  • Tournament schedules are built around school basketball seasons, with most teams taking a break from tournament play while their school season is in session.

Evaluation Schedule

  • Saturday 8/29 and Sunday 8/30
  • Specific evaluation times will be emailed to all registered participants prior to the evaluation dates, along with additional tryout information.

  • What is Trae Young Academy?: Trae Young Academy (TYA) is a player development focused youth basketball club housed at the Young Family Athletic Center.
  • Who can join?: TYA offers teams for boys and girls ranged 2nd through 10th grade.
  • What is included with membership to TYA?: -Placement on a roster led by an experienced coach. -Team practices held at YFAC. -Group skills training held at YFAC. -Team registration to local and/or regional tournaments and leagues.
  • What is the cost of membership?: Standard membership dues are $140/mo.
  • How long is the commitment?: TYA is run in 6 month increments: Apr-Sept and Oct-Mar. Players will be asked to commit through the end of the period in which they enroll.
  • How does my player join?: Register for and attend player evaluations. Results will be sent via email in the weeks following evaluations.
  • Is placement guaranteed?: We do our best to accommodate all interested and dedicated players, but team placement is not guaranteed.
  • What if my player misses evaluations?: Contact TYA for scheduling of an alternative evaluation date - tya@normanok.gov
  • What if I'm already on a TYA team?: Current players still need to register for and attend evaluations. Rosters are subject to change and registration must be renewed every term.
